Safety News
In our day to day life one of the most important aspect is safety. There are many incidents that can cause accidents and which we need to deal with to ensure safety. We use many electrical appliances in our day to day life which if not handled properly could cause serious life threatening accidents.

SAFETY & Electrical Appliances

According to study about 1,000 accidents at work involving electric shock or  burns are recorded every year of which 30 of these are fatal. The dangers from electricity should never be underestimated. One of the main hazards from these  appliances is fire. Equipment that is poorly maintained or used unsafely can  present a serious risk of harm through electrocution or fire.

In an age where we are highly dependent on electric appliances, in industries where  most of the work is done by machinery  and tools are being operated through electricity. These electric appliances have made our work easy and speedy but at the same time they are dangerous too. All electrical appliances and equipment must be approved prior to being made available for public use (both for industries and homes). Approved electrical appliances display a regulatory compliance mark or unique approval number. The appliances we use at workplace should be approved by some country’s trademark.

ISI mark is a certification mark for industrial products in India. It is developed by bureau of Indian standards. This mark is used for approval of electrical appliances.

Rules to be followed to ensure safety & prevent fire:

6) When using equipment on wet floors or near other sources of water, protection must be provided with a ground fault circuit interrupter that is built into the
equipment/tool, extension cord, outlet, or circuit.
